VESSEL LAYOUT DRAWINGS
1 Record Following Data
a. N/A - Roof or Head and skirt lengths and type (especially head to shell joint configuration.)
b.N/A - Shell lines of support (Head Tangents, Braces, Jacket Closures, etc.).
c.X - Foundation support member dimensions and orientation.
d.N/A - Inside/Outside diameter.
e.N/A - Tank component nominal thicknesses.
f.N/A - Nozzle layouts, size and use.
UT THICKNESS READINGS
1 Measure and Record Vessel Part Thicknesses
a. X - Roof/Heads - (4) locations minimum, (1) in each quadrant and for roofs - an X pattern (6) per leg.
b. X - Shell - (12) locations, (3) in each quadrant for each course.
c. N/A - Jacket - As required (at least (4) locations).
d. N/A - Nozzles - (4) locations, (1) in each quadrant for 2 inches and greater, (1) location for nozzles less than 2 inches.
e. N/A - Floor - If ultrasonic testing equipment that is capable of scanning the tank (i.e MFE) is not practical, use
equipment that tests individual points. In this case, take UTT measurements of at least 15 points per each 12 inches x 12
inches (0.3 meters x 0.3 meters) square area of the shell that is in contact with the ground.
UT RESULTS: GENERAL GUIDE
CAT 2 & 3 - UT Meas. less than 0.75 x Nominal Thickness - reference SP001 para 10.2.2 or 10.2.3 respectively.
CAT 1 - UT Meas. less than 0.50 x Nominal Thickness - reference SP001 para 10.2.4
