Use ear <br />protection when drilling. <br />2 Calibrate and Check Overall <br />Equipment <br />1 Equipment malfunction, <br />inaccurate data recovery <br />Calibrate equipment according to <br />manufacturer instructions and confirm <br />equipment is working properly. <br />3 Assemble Sampling Train 1 Pinch points, hand injury. <br />Damaged equipment. <br />Adhere to manufacturer's assembly <br />instructions. Use correct size wrenches when <br />connecting components. Wear gloves to <br />prevent hand injury in case the wrench slips <br />off a fitting. Use tubing cutters to avoid injury <br />when cutting sample tubing. <br />4 Purge Sample Tubing 1 Chemical exposure to vapors Monitoring breathing zone with PID if <br />required at site. Collect purge gas in Tedlar <br />bag. Wear Nitrile gloves. Discharge purge <br />gas outside building. <br />5 Collect Soil Vapor Sample 1 Hand injury, slip and trip <br />hazards in sample/working <br />area. <br />Wear gloves to prevent hand injury when <br />opening canister valve. Place cones and <br />caution tape around sample canister (if left <br />for a period of time). Terminate sampling <br />with 5 inches Hg vacuum remaining. <br />6 Close Sampling Point 1 Back strain, contamination <br />of sampling points from <br />improper closure, hand <br />injury. <br />Use proper lifting techniques and avoid <br />bending at the waist. Cap sampling point to <br />avoid introduction of surface impacts. <br />Wear gloves to prevent hand injury in case <br />the wrench slips off a fitting.
