<br />Cleaning and Sterilization

<br />Sterilization shall be accomplished pursuant to the
<br />procedures established by steam autoclave.

<br />Instruments or other reusable items shall be
<br />washed, disinfected, packaged, and sterilized after
<br />each procedure. Packages shall contain either an
<br />integrator or temperature indicator and shall be
<br />labeled with name of instrument, date, and initials.
<br />Used, reusable instruments to be stored in liquid
<br />until cleaned and sterilized. An instrument or
<br />reusable item that does not come into contact with
<br />non -intact skin shall be washed, scrubbed and
<br />decontaminated after each procedure. §119309

<br />Sterilizer shall be used and maintained according to
<br />.manufacturer's directions. §119315
<br />Autoclave shall be spore tested after initial
<br />installation, major repair, and at least once per
<br />month. Test results shall be recorded in a log. This
<br />log shall also contain date, contents, exposure time
<br />and temperature, results of Class V integrator for
<br />every cycle/load and when the biological test is
<br />positive — show a negative test before continued use
<br />& shall be kept on site for two years. §119315
<br />Decontamination/sterilization area is separated from
<br />procedure areas & supplied with a sink (hot and cold
<br />water, liquid soap & paper towels in a wall -mounted
<br />dispenser) that is readily accessible to practitioner,
<br />contains lined waste containers & sharps containers.

<br />6. A body art facility lacking a cleaning room &
<br />sterilization equipment shall use only disposable,
<br />single -use, pre -sterilized instruments & maintain
<br />records of purchase, use, procedures (include name
<br />of practitioner & client & procedure date). Keep

<br />7. Sharps containers are within arm's reach, labeled &
<br />disposed of by approved method. Sharps waste
<br />includes, needles & needle bars, hand tools if

<br />8. Jewelry, tattoo & piercing equipment shall be
<br />sterilized prior to use. Sterile packs shall be
<br />evaluated and if the integrity of a pack is
<br />compromised the pack shall be discarded or
<br />reprocessed before use. Only clean calipers shall

<br />Practitioner Health and Hygiene
<br />No food, drink, tobacco product, or personal effects
<br />are permitted in the procedure area. §119309
<br />10. Practitioner shall wash hands in approved manner

<br />hand hygiene performed before new gloves are

<br />13. Branding shall not be done with another client in the

<br />14. Clients shall be at least 18 years of age to receive a
<br />tattoo, permanent cosmetics application, a branding
<br />or body piercing (unless piercing in the presence of

<br />15. Skin shall be washed before shaved. Immediately
<br />prior to performing the body art, client's skin shall be
<br />prepared with an antiseptic solution, antimicrobial or
<br />microbicide, according to manufacturer's

<br />18. The machine shall be of a safe design with
<br />removable parts between the tip and motor housing
<br />to prevent backflow into the enclosed parts of the
