r
Pacific Gas & Electric Company Page 4
Stockton Service Center
FStockton , California
Fstorage tank and associated piping were removed . Please refer to
Drawing No . 3 for the proposed test boring locations . The
maximum depth of sampling will be 25 feet . Based on semi-annual
groundwater reports prepared for the San Joaquin County Flood
Control and Water Conservation District , groundwater in the area
of the project site should be located at a depth of approximately
40 to 50 feet below site grade . Based on the anticipated depth
[ of groundwater in the area of the project site , the deepest test
1 boring proposed for this investigation would be terminated
approximately 20 feet above the groundwater bearing strata .
The test borings will be advanced with a Mobile drill rig
using an 8 inch diameter hollow auger to achieve the desired
depths . A representative soil sample will be obtained from the
bore hole using a split -barrel ring sampler equipped with pre-
I
cleaned brass tube-s . The sampler will be driven or hydraulically
I
pushed approximately 18 inches into the soil . The lower 6-inch
F portion of each sample will be retained for laboratory testing .
g
Each soil sample will be retained in the brass tube and ;
r
banded and sealed with chain-of-custody seals . After all soil
samples have been retrieved , the test borings will be backfilled
with a bentonite slurry . The soil cuttings generated by the
drilling operations will be stockpiled at the project site .
All samples obtained from the site for laboratory analyses
will be cooled to 40C for shipment to the laboratory .
