Here are a couple of important reminders you may find helpful.
Please make sure you take advantage of the many downloadable resources and continuing education classes
designed specifically for use in your shop that are available on my website, www.cathymontie.com. The most
important are the two OSHA booklets that cover the California Code of Regulations and the Federal Blood
borne Pathogens Standard. Every shop should have one of these on file. You will also find forms to track your
Medical Waste Transportation(for those of you in California), a Sterilization Log to document your sterilization
procedures, and a Hepatitis B Declination Form for those of you who do not opt for the Hepatitis B vaccination.
For your convenience, we have also listed three insurance providers who understand the coverage needs of our
industry. Please feel free to download any or all of these at your convenience.
SHOP OWNERS AND MANAGERS; please make sure you have an up-to-date Exposure Control and Infection
Prevention Plan (ECIPP) in place in your shop. In some jurisdictions this is also known as an Infection
Prevention and Control Plan (IPCP) or an Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP). It is a very important
document! We have always been required by OSHA to have one in our shops but as of July 1, 2012 in
California, the Safe Body Art Law AB 300 also requires you to have one. If you do not have one, we can help
you get started. With the purchase of the complete package, we will consult with you in a short phone call and
complete the ECIPP for you with information specific to your shop, including all the MEDS sheets covering the
products you use. We are just a call away to help with all your safety and compliance needs. You can find it
here: http://cathymontie.com/store/ECIPP.html
I know this is a lot of information but my goal is to put our industry on the same page as OSHA and Health
Departments and to make sure we are protecting ourselves, our families, and our clients, as well as being
1
