All violations must be corrected within specified timeframe. Violations that are classified as "MAJOR" pose an immediate threat to public health and must be corrected immediately or be subject to closure pursuant to California Code of Regulations (Title 22) section 65545. #12 pH Level MAJOR OBSERVATIONS: The pH of the pool water is greater than 8.0. Adjust the pH of the pool water to 7.2 to 7.8 immediately or face closure. Corrected on site: approximately 3 oz of acid was added. pH level re-checked: 7.8 CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.8. (CCR 65530) #4 Safety Equipment OBSERVATIONS: The throw rope on the life ring is tangled. Untangle throw rope so it can be used properly in case of emergency. Correct today. Corrected on site. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Safety equipment shall be provided, maintained, readily visible, and available for use. Pools shall have at minimum one 12 foot fixed-length rescue pole with a permanently attached body hook and one 17-inch life ring with an attached throw rope. Throw rope shall be of sufficient length to span the maximum width of the pool and shall be stored to prevent kinking or fouling. (CCR 65540) #9 Ladders and Handrails OBSERVATIONS: The hand rail at the shallow entrance to the pool is wobbly/loose. Tighten up the hand rail today. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: A means of entry and exit shall be provided at both the shallow and deep end of the pool. Ladders and handrails shall be corrosion resistant and shall be rigidly installed. At least one handrail shall extend from the deck to not less than a point above the top of the lowest step. Handrails shall be installed between 28 to 36 inches above the steps and deck. (CBC 3111B) Pool operator shall keep ladders and handrails well maintained. (CCR 65535) #18 Pool Shell and Tile OBSERVATIONS: The pool plaster is pitted. Have the pool re-plastered by next year. REPEAT VIOLATION. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool shells shall be white and have a smooth waterproof interior finish that will withstand repeated brushing, and scrubbing. A spa pool may be finished in a light color other than white when approved by the enforcement agency.
