All violations must be corrected within specified timeframe. Violations that are classified as "MAJOR" pose an immediate threat to public health and must be corrected immediately or be subject to closure pursuant to California Code of Regulations (Title 22) section 65545. #2 Pool Enclosure OBSERVATIONS: Observed fence boards near back gate that were loose/deteriorated on the bottom. Repair/replace fence section within 2 weeks. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool area shall be enclosed by one or more of the following: a fence, portion of a building, wall, or other approved durable enclosure. Pool enclosure shall be constructed over a hard permanent material equivalent to concrete and shall be installed no more than 2 inches above the finished grade. Holes, gaps, or openings in the enclosure shall not allow the passage of a 4-inch diameter sphere. Doors, openable windows, or gates of living quarters shall not be permitted as part of the pool enclosure. (CBC 3119B) Pool operator shall keep the pool enclosure well maintained. (CCR 65535) Pool enclosure shall have a minimum effective perpendicular height of 5 feet and shall be constructed so that it cannot be climbed by small children. Horizontal members shall be spaced at least 48 inches apart. No planters or other climbable structures shall be permitted within 5 feet of the pool enclosure or within a 5-foot arc. Chain link openings shall not be larger than 1 3/4 inches when measured horizontally. Pool enclosures with a height of 4 or more feet are allowed if the enclosure was constructed prior to July 1994. (CBC 3119B) #4 Safety Equipment OBSERVATIONS: The life ring did not have a throw rope. Provide and attach throw rope to life ring, the rope length must span the maximum width of the pool. Correct today. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Safety equipment shall be provided, maintained, readily visible, and available for use. Pools shall have at minimum one 12 foot fixed-length rescue pole with a permanently attached body hook and one 17-inch life ring with an attached throw rope. Throw rope shall be of sufficient length to span the maximum width of the pool and shall be stored to prevent kinking or fouling. (CCR 65540) #13 Cyanuric Acid Concentration OBSERVATIONS: The pool cyanuric acid is greater than 100 ppm. Maintain cyanuric acid between 0-100 ppm when operating. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall maintain cyanuric acid concentration between 0.0 ppm and 100 ppm. (CCR 65530) #18 Pool Shell and Tile OBSERVATIONS: Observed some black algae on the pool shell at deep end. Maintain pool shell free of algae and debris. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool shells shall be white and have a smooth waterproof interior finish that will withstand repeated brushing, and scrubbing. A spa pool may be finished in a light color other than white when approved by the enforcement agency.
