All violations must be corrected within specified timeframe. Violations that are classified as "MAJOR" pose an immediate threat to public health and must be corrected immediately or be subject to closure pursuant to California Code of Regulations (Title 22) section 65545. #10 Disinfectant Residual MAJOR OBSERVATIONS: Free chlorine is 0.8 ppm. Adjust to 2 ppm to 10 ppm. Close pool until the corrections are made and verified by this department. Chlorine was adjusted to 6 ppm during the inspection. Corrected on site. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Public pools, when open or in use, shall be disinfected continuously by approved chemicals and shall maintain the following concentrations: 1.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine without cyanuric acid, 2.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine with cyanuric acid or 2.0 ppm bromine. Spas, wading pools, and spray grounds shall maintain the following concentrations: 3.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine or 4.0 ppm bromine. (CCR 65529) #3 Safety Signs OBSERVATIONS: The information written on safety sign has worn off. Fill in missing information including pool address, max pool capacity, and pool hours. Correct today. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall keep safety signs well maintained. (CCR 65535) Safety signs shall have clearly legible letters or numbers not less than 4 inches high, unless otherwise specified. Safety signs shall be affixed to a wall, pole, gate, or similar permanent structure in a location visible to all pool users, unless otherwise specified. (CBC 3120B) #9 Ladders and Handrails OBSERVATIONS: The handrails were observed to be loose. Repair/replace handrails within five days. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: A means of entry and exit shall be provided at both the shallow and deep end of the pool. Ladders and handrails shall be corrosion resistant and shall be rigidly installed. At least one handrail shall extend from the deck to not less than a point above the top of the lowest step. Handrails shall be installed between 28 to 36 inches above the steps and deck. (CBC 3111B) Pool operator shall keep ladders and handrails well maintained. (CCR 65535) #15 Operation Records OBSERVATIONS: Operation records were not available during the inspection. Maintain daily records for free chlorine and pH testing. Correct today. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall test the disinfectant residual, pH, and spa water temperature a minimum of once per day. Cyanuric acid concentration shall be tested once per month if cyanuric acid is used. Combined chlorine shall be tested as often as necessary to maintain the concentration below 0.4 ppm. Pool operator shall maintain written records of all maintenance and test results for at least two years and shall submit those records to the enforcement agency upon request.
