Environmental Health Department <br />Time In: <br />10:15 am <br /> 9:15 am <br />Time Out: <br />Program Element: 3616 - PUBLIC POOL/SPA - EXEMPT <br />Telephone: (209) 466-0853 Owner/Operator: CHILDRENS HOME OF STOCKTON <br />Inspection Type: ROUTINE INSPECTION - Operating Permit <br />Address: 430 N PILGRIM ST, STOCKTON 95205 <br />Date: 07/24/2023Name of Facility: CHILDRENS HOME OF STOCKTON <br />Swimming Pool Official Inspection Report <br />VIOLATIONS AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS <br />Items listed on this report as violations do not meet the requirements set forth in the California Health and Safety Code section(s) 116043, 116040, & <br />116050. All violations must be corrected within specified timeframe. Violations that are classified as "MAJOR" pose an immediate threat to public health <br />and must be corrected immediately or be subject to closure pursuant to California Code of Regulations (Title 22) section 65545. <br /> #10 Disinfectant Residual MAJOR <br />OBSERVATIONS: Free chlorine is 0.8 ppm. Adjust to 2 ppm to 10 ppm. Close pool until the corrections are made and <br />verified by this department. Chlorine was adjusted to 6 ppm during the inspection. <br />Corrected on site. <br />CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Public pools, when open or in use, shall be disinfected continuously by approved chemicals and shall maintain <br />the following concentrations: 1.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine without cyanuric acid, 2.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine with cyanuric acid <br />or 2.0 ppm bromine. Spas, wading pools, and spray grounds shall maintain the following concentrations: 3.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free <br />chlorine or 4.0 ppm bromine. (CCR 65529) <br /> #3 Safety Signs <br />OBSERVATIONS: The information written on safety sign has worn off. Fill in missing information including pool address, <br />max pool capacity, and pool hours. Correct today. <br />CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall keep safety signs well maintained. (CCR 65535) Safety signs shall have clearly legible <br />letters or numbers not less than 4 inches high, unless otherwise specified. Safety signs shall be affixed to a wall, pole, gate, or similar <br />permanent structure in a location visible to all pool users, unless otherwise specified. (CBC 3120B) <br /> #9 Ladders and Handrails <br />OBSERVATIONS: The handrails were observed to be loose. Repair/replace handrails within five days. <br />CALCODE DESCRIPTION: A means of entry and exit shall be provided at both the shallow and deep end of the pool. Ladders and <br />handrails shall be corrosion resistant and shall be rigidly installed. At least one handrail shall extend from the deck to not less than a point <br />above the top of the lowest step. Handrails shall be installed between 28 to 36 inches above the steps and deck. (CBC 3111B) Pool <br />operator shall keep ladders and handrails well maintained. (CCR 65535) <br /> #15 Operation Records <br />OBSERVATIONS: Operation records were not available during the inspection. Maintain daily records for free chlorine and <br />pH testing. Correct today. <br />CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall test the disinfectant residual, pH, and spa water temperature a minimum of once per day. <br />Cyanuric acid concentration shall be tested once per month if cyanuric acid is used. Combined chlorine shall be tested as often as <br />necessary to maintain the concentration below 0.4 ppm. Pool operator shall maintain written records of all maintenance and test results <br />for at least two years and shall submit those records to the enforcement agency upon request.
