Clean Earth Environmental <br />HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE PROGRAM <br />The bulking operation will not commence until all vehicles have been unloaded and left the vicinity of <br />the bulking area. <br />Staff shall inspect the area where work is to be performed and clear the area of any unnecessary <br />items that may present a hazard. Remove all ignition sources. <br />Verify contents of waste prior to bulking. <br />Make sure contaminated clothing is removed in decontamination area. <br />Ensure the bulking area and equipment is cleaned and decontaminated. <br />Follow protocols approved by the fire department and Air Quality Management District. <br />OIL, ANTIFREEZE AND LATEX WATER BASES PAINT <br />Personal Protective Equipment: <br />Blue Nitrile (Inner) Gloves Disposable Tyvek (Polycoated) <br />Steel-toe Safety Boots PVC Coated (Outer) Gloves <br />Face Shield and Apron (optional) <br />Safety Equipment: <br />Absorbent Fire Extinguishers <br />Shovels Brooms <br />First Aid Kit Emergency Eyewash/Shower <br />Material Handling Equipment: <br />Carts Drum Dolly <br />Forklift Pallet Jack <br />Bulking Screens Bulking Trees <br />Can opening tools (hammers, screwdrivers Paint can openers <br />GUIDELINES AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: <br />Only trained personnel will bulk materials. Required PPE will be worn at all times. <br />Personnel will be made aware of the location of spill and emergency response equipment. <br />Equipment will be identified by orange safety flags (i.e. fire extinguisher, safety shower, etc.). <br />Personnel will observe all safety precautions for bulking i.e. use caution with rusted cans, hold cans <br />on the sides to avoid contact with bulking trees. <br />Liquid spills shall be contained and recovered immediately <br />Staff shall inspect the area where work is to be performed and clear the area of any unnecessary <br />items that may present a hazard. <br />13
