Rough grading may be performed where required to accommodate the support
structures and access roads. Grubbing and grading would occur on the site to achieve the
required surface conditions. Site preparation may include application of pre-emergent herbicides
formulated to minimize impacts on wildlife. Application would be in accordance with federal, state,
and San Joaquin County regulations and would be applied by a California state-licensed pesticide
applicator.
Retention basins may be required for hydrologic control. The specific locations for these retention
basins would be determined during final engineering design and would be located within the 32-
acre disturbance area. Access roads would be gravel or aggregate base depending on the final
site geotechnical report. A temporary staging area, anticipated to be located on the southwest
end of the site, would be constructed to hold materials and construction equipment.
Griffith Energy Storage Project 2-11 Tetra Tech/SCH 2022120675
Draft Environmental Impact Report August 2023
