Biological Resources Evaluation Report Griffith Energy Project INTRODUCTION Tetra Tech, Inc. (Tetra Tech) has prepared this biological resources evaluation report for the proposed Griffith Energy Project (Project). Griffith Energy, LLC (Griffith Energy) proposes to develop approximately 20 acres of a 102.6 acre site (approximately 95.4 acres in San Joaquin County, California and 7.2 acres of land located in Alameda County), into a battery energy storage facility.Together,the Project site and a 150- meter buffer comprise the biological study area (BSA). Biologists visited the BSA in January 2022 to conduct the following as part of the general biological survey: • Inventory of all plants and wildlife observed onsite. • Perform vegetation community mapping. • Perform a jurisdictional wetland delineation. • Assess habitat for California tiger salamander (CTS), including upland and aquatic habitat assessment and migration barrier assessment within a 1.24-mile buffer around the Project site. • Identify potential nesting habitat for Swainson's hawk within a 0.5-mile buffer of the Project site. • Assess habitat for San Joaquin kit fox (SJKF). • Assess habitat for special-status species. • Assess habitat for nesting birds. The purpose of this biological resources evaluation report is to: • Document the methods and results of the field survey. • Summarize the existing biological resources and conditions within the Project site and vicinity. • Assess the potential presence of special-status biological resources. • Recommend additional surveys. 1.1 Project Site Location, Ecoregion, and Setting 1.1.1 Project Site Location The Project site is located along the border of San Joaquin and Alameda Counties in California (Figures 1 and 2). It is generally bound by rolling hills used for wind-energy generation, cattle grazing, and residential housing. The Diablo Mountain Range is approximately 3 to 5 miles south and west of the Project site. The nearest city is Tracy, California, which is approximately 4.5 miles east of the Project site. Interstate 580 is approximately 1 mile to the northeast and Interstate 205 is approximately 2 miles north of the Project site. The Project site is within Township 2 South, Range 4 East, Section 32 in San Joaquin and Alameda Counties. The Project site is centered at a latitude of 37.710 degrees North and longitude of -121.554 degrees West(in decimal degrees). The Project site is also in the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Midway 7.5-Minute Topographic Quadrangle Map (Figure 3).
