Memorandum TETRA TECH
Technical Memorandum for 2023 Site Visit at NextEra Griffith Energy
Date: July 28,2023
Attention: Craig Lawrence,Patti Murphy
Company: NextEra Energy Resources
Prepared by: Tetra Tech
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This Memorandum summarizes the methods and results of a site visit that was conducted on June 7,
2023 atthe proposed Griffith Energy Project site. Comments from MIG, Inc. (MIG),San Joaquin
County's third-party reviewer of the Draft Environmental Impact Report(EIR),were received on May
19,2023 and July 21,2023. Multiple comments on the Biological Resources section of the Draft EIR
referenced the presence of an ephemeral pond in the southwest portion of the Project property after a
historically high rainfall year. The purpose of the site visit was to document current conditions at the
Project site to inform the applicant's response to MIG's comments. A detailed impacts analysis will be
performed in the EIR.
2.0 METHODS
One biologist visited the Project site on June 7,2023. The following bullets outline the tasks that were
performed during the site visit:
• Map and assess ephemeral pond in southeast portion of property. Assess habitat in this area
for western spadefoot(Spec hammondii), longhorn fairy shrimp (Branchinecta longiantenna),
vernal pool fairy shrimp (Branchinecta lynchi),California tiger salamander(Ambystoma
californiense,CTS),and California red-legged frog(Rana draytonii). Conduct a jurisdictional
delineation.
• Evaluate offsite location where West Patterson Pass Road passes under the railroad and
assess for potential barriers to CTS wildlife movement.
• Check standing water location west of Midway Road for potential to support vernal pool
invertebrates.
• Map shallow ditch that runs along the southern side of West Patterson Pass Road within 150-
meter buffer.
The biologist recorded notes, mapped locations on a tablet synced with a global positioning system
(GPS) and took photographs.
1 J u ly 2023
