Golden Gate Ave, Stockton
APN: 157-130-34, SR0087039
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading Study (SSNL) dated August 2, 2023 for the above noted location and has the following comments
for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term nitrate loading impact to groundwater from the proposed
second unit dwelling.
Based on the information provided the EHD can make the following findings:
a. According to the SSNL, the estimated nitrate loading from existing and proposed OWTS usage is
16.22 mg/L as nitrate-nitrogen and the maximum contaminant level of 10 mg/L-N. EHD will require
the mitigation of nitrate-nitrogen through an engineered Onsite Wastewater Treatment System.
b. Percolation test conducted on August 11, 2023 yields a percolation rate of 3.79 minutes. At this
rate an 20' soil separation is required between bottom of dispersal field and the groundwater.
Groundwater is reported at 50 feet below surface grade. (San Joaquin County OWTS Standard
Table 1.10.2).
c. The OWTS and its 100% replacement areas shall meet all required minimum setbacks stated in
San Joaquin County (OWTS) Standard and Well Standard.
d. A Registered Civil Engineer shall submit complete engineering design plan to EHD for approval
prior to issuance of building permit. Fee will be based on the current fee schedule at time of
payment.
If you have any questions please contact Naseem Ahmed, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, at nahmed@sjgov.org or (209) 616-3018.
Steven Shih, REHS
Program Coordinator
CC: Live Oak Geo Environmental- 407 W.
