Sampling and Analysis Plan
3 Investigation Approach and Methods
The following sections present methods to conduct the ESA on Subject Properties.
3.1 General Subsurface Investigation Methods
General field procedures will be conducted in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure 1
(SOP 1) (Appendix B). Specific investigation methods include the following:
• Drilling: To characterize subsurface soil, borings will be advanced via direct push technology
(DPT) and/or hand auger to a depth of approximately 10 feet below ground surface (bgs). Drilling
to a maximum depth of 20 feet bgs may be performed if evidence of soil contamination exists or
deeper when sampling groundwater. Drilling and sampling will be conducted in accordance with
SOP 2 (Appendix B).
• Sampling: Soil samples will be collected from two depth intervals in each boring and submitted
to a California certified laboratory for analyses. Groundwater samples will be collected from one
boring and submitted to a California certified laboratory for analysis. Soil and groundwater
sample rationale is presented on Table 2.1. Soil and/or groundwater samples will be collected
per the schedule of analysis listed on Tables 3.1 and 3.2, respectively. Soil and groundwater
sampling and sample control will be conducted in accordance with SOPS 2 and 3 (Appendix B).
3.2 Right of Entry, Permitting and Utility Clearance
The following will be completed prior to performing field operations:
a. Contact owners of the Subject Properties to coordinate an investigation schedule,
b. Obtain drilling permit(s)from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD),
c. Conduct a site visit to evaluate site access and mark boring locations for underground utility
locating,
d. Contact USA North 811 at least 72 hours prior to drilling and obtain subsurface utility
clearance for the boring locations. USA North 811 tickets will be renewed at least 48 hours
prior to expiration if drilling was not completed within 28 days of ticket issue,
e. Schedule a private utility locating contractor to assess presence of underground utilities at
each boring location, and
f. Notify SJCEHD at least one week in advance of the proposed start date for the field work.
3.3 Soil and Groundwater Sampling
Methods to conduct soil and groundwater sampling are presented below. Detailed description of
sampling methods is presented in the SOP 2 provided in Appendix B.
June 24,2022 1 6
