Examples of Alternate Communication <br /> Technologies include: Everbridge, Vocera, and VoIP phones. In general, use <br /> of the overhead paging system should be limited to situations where: <br /> i. All or most of the building's occupants need to hear the notice <br /> for their safety,- <br /> ii. <br /> afety;ii. Additional or follow-up information to all or most building <br /> occupants is required,- <br /> iii. <br /> equired;iii. An immediate response from all or the majority of the Workforce <br /> is required; <br /> iv. It is recommended based on the National Fire and Protection <br /> Agency (NFPA) Life Safety Code compliance; and/or, <br /> v. Alternate Communication Technologies are not available or have <br /> determined to be ineffective. <br /> d. If use of the overhead paging system is required,the designated contact <br /> will use the appropriate Emergency Codes, Medical Codes or Medical <br /> Alerts announcement and repeat three (3)times. <br /> 2. Terminating an Emergency Code. <br /> a. When the incident response is complete,the incident commander or <br /> appropriate manager will call the designated contact and request the all <br /> clear notification/announcement. <br /> b. The designated contact will notify appropriate Workforce via voice or text <br /> JCode Name], all clear." If the overhead paging system is used,the <br /> announcement will be repeated three (3) times. <br /> 3. Terminating a Medical Code or Medical Alert: <br /> a. Medical Code or Medical Alerts shall be terminated or canceled as <br /> outlined by each individual Medical Code or Medical Alert policy. <br /> C. Education and Training: <br /> 1. All Workforce members must be familiar with the following: <br /> a. Emergency Codes, Medical Codes and Medical Alerts names. <br /> b. Emergency Codes, Medical Codes and Medical Alerts definitions. <br /> c. Number to call (e.g., operator, front desk, etc.) to notify in case of an <br /> emergency. <br /> d. Incident-specific response procedures for each Emergency Code, Medical <br /> Code or Medical Alert as appropriate to their roles and responsibilities. <br /> 2.
