No <br /> batteries were observed in the trash during the 09/27/2023 inspection, but when asked,the Office Manager, <br /> Angelica Cintora, stated that used batteries from the office are disposed of in the trash. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE: The disposal of any hazardous waste, or the causing thereof, is prohibited when the <br /> disposal is at a facility which does not have a permit from the department issued pursuant to this chapter, or at any <br /> point which is not authorized according to this chapter. Hazardous wastes shall be disposed of only by <br /> transportation to a permitted hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facility(TSDF)or other authorized <br /> point. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately cease disposal of the batteries or any other hazardous/universal waste in the <br /> trash.The office manager,Angelica Cintora said that she would cease the disposal of the batteries in the trash. <br /> Provide a corrective action statement to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department within 30 days. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately cease disposal of the batteries or any other hazardous/universal waste in the <br /> trash.The office manager,Angelica Cintora said that she would cease the disposal of the batteries in the trash. <br /> Provide a corrective action statement to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department within 30 days. <br /> This is a Class I violation. <br /> 705 CCR 66273.33(c) Universal Waste Handler failed to properly manage mercury containing universal waste. <br /> OBSERVATION: The facility stores universal waste(UW), mercury-containing equipment, in a way that does not <br /> prevent the accidental release of waste to the environment. The UW mercury-containing equipment(used filters)is <br /> being stored in a cardboard box without a UW label. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE: Title 22 California Code of Regulations section 66273.33 Universal Waste <br /> Management Requirements for Batteries, Lamps, and Mercury-Containing Equipment <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Place an appropriately filled out label on all universal waste. Provide information on how to <br /> properly store the mercury-containing equipment in a way to prevent accidental release to the environment.
