Stated that approximately 50 -gallons
of diesel was released from damaged saddle tank. Contacted complainant, Jared
Melton, Incident manager for CURA Emergency Services. Left a voicemail.
Met with Alejandro Seramano, foreman for ANCON Environmental. Stated that
truck driver placed absorbent and absorbent pads around leaking saddle tank. He
stated that when he arrived absorbent was placed along the drain path leading to
soil. Alejandro stated that he placed additional absorbent as a precaution. He
stated that they used simple green and water on the asphalt and concrete that
were impacted by diesel. He informed me that the diesel leaked from the truck
saddle tank throughout the employee parking lot. Approximately 600 feet of
asphalt were impacted with diesel and two -soil locations roughly one by one foot
wide may have been impacted. Alejandro gave me the contact information for
Michael Leslie, Safety Manager for KEHE distributions.
Left a voicemail for Michael Leslie.
Alejandro showed me the drain pathway leading to the two one by one foot wide
soil locations. I asked Alejandro why the soil appeared wet; he stated that the
sprinkler system went off towards the end of clean up. I requested if Alejandro
could check if diesel was present in the soil. Alejandro pulled out nitrile gloves and
grabbed a sample of soil at two different soil locations. All locations appeared to
have some diesel in the soil, the gloves had a sheen on them. Ancon crew
excavated approximately four inches deep in an approximately one square foot
area of soil for two sites near the impacted gutter area. The two soil areas
impacted by diesel were located approximately 20 feet apart from each other.
Alejandro put on another pair of nitrile gloves and grabbed a soil sample, no sheen
was observed on gloves. I observed no diesel odor or visible traces on the soil. I
determined the site to be adequately clean. Contacted Garrett Backus ILead
Senior REHS1 discussed complaint. Based on discussion I talked to Alejandro
about how the waste generated from clean up will be managed. Alejandro stated
that the following would remain on site pending waste analysis:
-Three 55 -gallon containers with rinse water contaminated with diesel.
-Two 55 -gallon containers with solids contaminated with diesel.
Received a call from Jared Melton from CURA Environmental Services.
