FORWARD
RESOURCE & RECOVERY
2016-2017D'
October 5, 2016
1. Grinding Pad & Sorting Pad
The pad has been graded such that the water flows to one of three onsite conveyances leading
directly to the lined impoundment at the west of the Resource & Recovery (R & R) area.
2. Compost Pad
Composting activities are being performed on an approximately 20 -acre area. The composting
activities are limited to green waste materials.
3. Transfer Station
The transfer of recyclables is done within the twelve thousand square feet (12,000 sq) building
located on the eastern end and middle (North-South) of the R & R area. Rainwater from the roof
of the building is directed from the down spouts to the existing conveyances and then to the lined
impoundment.
4. Lined Impoundment
All water is held in the lined impoundment and then sampled and analyzed in accordance with
applicable Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) monitoring requirements.
5. Roads
All roads have been graded to provide a safe and stable surface for travel and to direct runoff to
the existing conveyances that route to the lined impoundment. Roads will be cleared of mud as
needed to prevent tracking onto Austin Road. Forward Landfill has constructed a tire wash
station along the main exit road of the FRRF that is used to clean truck tires. The tire wash
station was completed in July 2014. In addition, exit roads and Austin Road will be reviewed on
an hourly basis and will be cleaned by sweeper truck and water truck, as needed, to prevent any
build-up of mud.
