Employee housing facilities requiring a permit are those facilities which house five (5) or more
dairy employees (not including relatives) on land which is owned by the dairy owner/operator.
Permits to operate employee-housing facilities with five (5) or more employees are being
processed for the 2005 season. Please complete the enclosed application and remit the
appropriate fee at least forty-five days prior to planned date of occupancy of your facility.
The laws and regulations covering employee-housing facilities are found in Chapter 1, Part`1, Division 13
of the Health and Safety Code, and Chapter 1, Subchapter 3, Title 25, California Code of Regulations. If
your operation is found to be in compliance with these requirements, you will be issued a permit and you
will be exempted from applying for an annual permit in the future, provided your facilities remain in
compliance. If your operation is not in compliance, a schedule will be developed to provide a reasonable
time frame to correct the documented violations.
If your dairy operation houses employees and meets the definition of an employee housing facility, please
complete and submit the enclosed application along with the appropriate required fee by January 1, 2005.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, contact the Environmental Health Department of San
Joaquin County, Alan Biedermann, Lead Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist, at (209)
468-3912.
Sincerely,
Alan Biedermann, Lead Senior REHS, RDI
Return payment and Application in the enclosed envelope.
