Inside the main drain sumps provide a vertical clearance of two times the pipe
diameter (20" in this case) between the top of the suction pipe and the bottom of
the main drain cover. Do this at each main drain.
2. Install minimum 5 foot tall approved fencing around the entire pool enclosure. If
chain link is to be used then the horizontal measurement of the fabric cannot
exceed 1 3/4 inches.
3. Provide hot water at the showers capable of reaching a minimum of 110°F.
4. Restrooms shall be available to swimmers whenever the pool is being used.
Flooring shall be a nonabsorbent material, which extends upward onto the wall at
least 5-inches with a coved base.
5. Provide hose bibs so that all portions of the pool deck may be reached with a 75-
foot length of hose attached to the hose bib.
6. This pool is determined to be a "special use" pool due to its construction. The
depth in the shallow end is greater than 3-'/z feet. This pool can only be used for
swimming competitions, diving competitions, or instructional. This pool cannot
be used as a community pool or open to the general public.
Any item(s) inadvertently overlooked on the plan check may be cause for re-construction
at the pool. This Department requires a pre-gunite (with plumbing exposed), pre-plaster,
and final inspection prior to approving pool to open. Call me to set up an inspection at
(209) 468-3438.
Jeff Carruesco, Program Coordinator, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health
