All violations must be corrected within specified timeframe. Violations that are classified as "MAJOR" pose an immediate threat to public health and must be corrected immediately or be subject to closure pursuant to California Code of Regulations (Title 22) section 65545. #10 Disinfectant Residual MAJOR OBSERVATIONS: Free chlorine is zero. It shall be 3.0-10.0 ppm, immediately. Pool is closed by this department. CAL CODE DESCRIPTION: Public pools, when open or in use, shall be disinfected continuously by approved chemicals and shall maintain the following concentrations: 1.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine without cyanuric acid, 2.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine with cyanuric acid or 2.0 ppm bromine. Spas, wading pools, and spray grounds shall maintain the following concentrations: 3.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine or 4.0 ppm bromine. (CCR 65529) #12 pH Level MAJOR OBSERVATIONS: pH level is low at 7.0. It shall be between 7.2-7.8. Pool is closed by this department. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.8. (CCR 65530) #3 Safety Signs OBSERVATIONS: "Keep Gate Closed" sign is lacking at entrance to pool (repeat violation from previous years). Sign shall be provided, today. Pool capacity faded. Rewrite, today. CAL CODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall keep safety signs well maintained. (CCR 65535) Safety signs shall have clearly legible letters or numbers not less than 4 inches high, unless otherwise specified. Safety signs shall be affixed to a wall, pole, gate, or similar permanent structure in a location visible to all pool users, unless otherwise specified. (CBC 3120B) #15 Operation Records OBSERVATIONS: Lack of daily pH and chlorine readings. Provide during pool season. CAL CODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall test the disinfectant residual, pH, and spa water temperature a minimum of once per day. Cyanuric acid concentration shall be tested once per month if cyanuric acid is used. Combined chlorine shall be tested as often as necessary to maintain the concentration below 0.4 ppm. Pool operator shall maintain written records of all maintenance and test results for at least two years and shall submit those records to the enforcement agency upon request.
