PUBLIC NOTICE <br /> INVITATION FOR COMMENTS ON A PROPOSED <br /> FARM LABOR HOUSING PROJECT TO BE LOCATED ON <br /> FLOOD PLAIN AND IMPORTANT LAND RESOURCE <br /> In compliance with the Farmland Protection Act Subtitle, <br /> I Public Law 97-98 governing the Administration of <br /> Federally Assisted Projects located on Prime Farmland, <br /> and Executive Order 11988 , Flood Plain Guidelines , <br /> governing the Administration of Federally Assisted <br /> Projects located within a 100-year flood plain. The U.S. <br /> Department of Agriculture, Farmers Home Administration <br /> ( FmHA) is considering a pre-application for financial <br /> assistance; sponsored by the Asociacion Campesina "Lazaro <br /> Cardenas" Inc. <br /> The specific elements of this proposed action are to <br /> develop 36 units of permanent Farm Labor Family Rental <br /> Housing, including a community building, storage, office <br /> facitlities , and an open space area. The proposed <br /> development is also to include 21 units of Single Family <br /> Housing. The proposed project will be located east of <br /> French Camp Turnpike Road between Downing Avenue and <br /> Clayton Avenue, approximately 1/4 mile east of Highway 5. <br /> The purpose of this notice is to inform the public and <br /> request comments concerning, ( 1 ) the impacts of the <br /> proposed project to flood plain, and the impact of the <br /> proposed action on the Farmland, ( 2) alternative sites or <br /> actions that would avoid these impacts, and ( 3 ) methods <br /> that could be used to reduce these impacts . <br /> The proposed action is available for review at the <br /> following FmHA office: 1222 Monaco Court , Suite 19 , <br /> Stockton, CA 95207. Any person interested in commenting <br /> on the proposed action may do so by sending such comments <br /> within 30 days following the date of this publication to: <br /> Mr. Antonio Garcia Jr. at the FmHA office listed above. <br /> A general location map of the proposed action is shown <br /> below. <br />
