URS
N N
Mr. Robert McClellon
January 4, 2005
Page 5
Full Scale Installation
Following the receipt of the analytical data for the soil vapor samples collected during the pilot test,a
soil vapor extraction system will be sized, and an appropriate soil vapor treatment system will be
selected. The potential remedial alternatives were provided in the remediation plan dated October 22,
2004. We will install the selected remedial alternative following your approval. If a remedial
alternative is selected where an ATC is required, we will complete a permit application for ATC and
submit the ATC to you and the SJVAPCD for review and approval. Upon receipt of approval of the
ATC, we will install the selected remedial alternative.
SCHEDULE
Geophysical Field Investigation
The fieldwork for the geophysical survey is scheduled for completion in early January 2005, weather
permitting. The fieldwork is expected to be completed within five to six days. Ponding water on the
site may affect the results of the geophysical survey;therefore, the geophysical survey will have to be
delayed if water is ponding on the site. A geophysical report is expected within three weeks after the
completion of the fieldwork.
Additional Probe Installation and Extraction Well Installation
Following receipt of the geophysical report, we plan to install the three additional probes and two
extraction wells. We will obtain your approval on the location of these probes and wells before
installing them.
Pilot Test
One to two weeks following the installation of the probes and extraction wells, the methane
concentrations within the probes and extraction wells will be measured. Based on this information, the
pilot test unit will be sized and selected with an appropriate soil vapor treatment system. We expect to
complete the pilot test within five days. The analytical results for the soil vapor samples are expected
within three weeks. Following receipt of the analytical report, the remediation system will be sized, and
an appropriate soil vapor treatment system will be selected and sized. A permit application for an ATC
will be prepared and submitted to the SJVAPCD for approval. It is expected that the application permit
for the ATC will be completed within three to four weeks and that the SJVAPCD will process the
permit in approximately three months.
Full Scale Installation
Following receipt of the permit to operate, the approved remedial and treatment system will be ordered
and installed. We anticipate that the system could be delivered within four to six weeks and installed
within two to four weeks of equipment delivery.
K:\Wprocess\25532\WorldEnterprise\2emediation Plan\010405-Ltr.doc
