14 1:-.A
Atherton Island Home Owners' Association
Box 11 * Atherton Island
StocLton, California
At Mrs. Bud Klein
Gentlemen; re Atherton Island bwimming rool
We are contactiug all swimming pool operators, and listing items
needing correction or repair prior to the onset of heavy pool usage.
The following items will require attention and correction at the
above named pool;
Computed pool capacity and filter bed area reveal
that the filters and circulation system fail
to provide an o hour turnover of pool water, as
provided by the 4aws and Regulations aelatin to
bwiwming Pools.
Two surface skimmers nave been installed. current
standards require one skimmer for each 500 square
feet oi pool surrace area. Two additional skinners
should be installed at locations which take advantage
of natural skimming action of prevailing winds.
The main drain of the pool should be connected to
the recirculation system. The skimmers are to be
capable of circulating at least 50 percent of the
recirculation capacity.
Provide a chlorinator that meets the requirements
of section 7806.
No provision has been made to prevent back siphonage
from the pool through the make-up line and valves
into the domestic water supply. Provision must be
made to conform with Section 7797.
Provide depth marLcrs on both upper edge of pool wall
and on edge of pool depth at points of maximum depth,
minimum depth, and break point depth, and at no more
than 25 foot intervals. Marker numerals are to be
a minimum height of four inches.
Hose bibs in pool area are to be equippeu with
vacuum breoLers.
There appears to be a teak in the pool piping,
causing an excessive amount of nalre-up water to l)4.
aueteu daiy. This situation adci,.; to the difficulty
of maintaining the required chlorine residual of
0.4 parts per million and the required water clarity
anu an albalinity of from 0H 7.2 to 8.4.
