SOUTH SAN JOAQUIN
IRRIGATION DISTRICT
October 18, 2022
Steven Shih, Program Coordinator
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1888 E. Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95205
SUBJECT: TRANSMITTAL OF THE SOUTH SAN JOAQUIN GROUNDWATER SUSTAINABILITY AGENCY
VERIFICATION STATEMENT FOR PROPOSED WELL— 19380 S. JACK TONE ROAD, MANTECA
Dear Mr. Shin,
On behalf of the South San Joaquin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (SSJGSA), please accept this
transmittal letter with attachments containing the following documents:
1. GSA Verification Statement.
2. Well Drilling Permit Acknowledgement Form.
Based on the included attachments referenced above, the SSJGSA has concluded that the proposed well
will not decrease the likelihood of achieving sustainability for the area covered by the SSJGSA. The
applicant is an agricultural customer of the South San Joaquin Irrigation District (SSJID) and is currently
receiving surface water for the irrigation of his orchard. The SSJGSA understands that the applicant would
use the proposed well for a back-up supply and to provide for agronomic uses when SSJID surface water
is unavailable. The applicant's current use of water is included in the aggregate water demands for all
scenario's analyzed in the adopted Eastern San Joaquin Groundwater Sustainability Plan.
The SSJGSA respectfully requests that this transmittal letter and attachments be kept on file with the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. Should you have any questions, please feel free to
contact me at bnal<agawa@sslid.com, or via phone at (209) 305-8442.
Sincerely,
BRANDON W. NAKAGAWA, P.E.
Water Resources Coordinator and SSJGSA Secretary
Attachments
c: Matt Zidar, San Joaquin County Water Resources Coordinator
