County of San Joaquin Department of Public Works Injury and Illness <br />Prevention Program <br /> <br />1.1 Purpose <br /> <br />This manual sets forth policy, procedures and instructions for the County of San <br />Joaquin Department of Public Works Occupational Injury & Illness Prevention <br />Program. In addition, it assigns authority, responsibility and requirements relative <br />to these programs. A current copy of this program manual is available from the <br />County of San Joaquin Department of Public Works. <br /> <br />1.2 Definitions <br />“Alternative Work Program (AWP)”: Individuals who have offered an option to <br />perform work service at County facilities as part of a legal settlement through <br />the Courts of San Joaquin County <br />“County”: The County of San Joaquin <br />“Department”: Generally refers to the Department of Public Works of the <br />County <br />“Department Safety and Health Representative”: Generally refers to an <br />individual delegated by the Director of Public Works to represent the <br />Department in the County Wide Safety and Health program <br />“Deputy Director”: Any of the staff employed to oversee and manage a <br />functional group of Divisions of the Department <br />“Director”: The individual assigned to oversee all of the functional areas of the <br />Department of Public Works of the County <br />“Division”: Any of the subsections of the Department which oversee a defined <br />function, such as Road Maintenance, Field Engineering, etc. <br />“Employee”: Any of the staff assigned to the Department of Public Works <br />“Manager”: Any of the staff of the Department who oversee a Division of the <br />Department
