includes the production and testing of biological products.
Regulated medical waste or clinical waste or biomedical waste suspected of containing
a highly communicable disease.
Laboratory waste such as human specimen cultures;cultures and stocks of infectious
agents from research;wastes from the production of bacteria, viruses, spores, Shall be placed in a biohazard bag conspicuously labeled with the words
discarded live and attenuated vaccines used in human health care or research, "Biohazardous Waste'or with the international biohazard symbol and the word
A container is considered:race chemotherapy waste if: Shall be segregated for storage, and, when placed in a secondary container,
1.All the chemotherapy drug has been removed using practices commonly employed that container shall be labeled with the words"Chemotherapy Waste",
to remove materials from that type of container; "CHEMO",or other label approved )y the department on the lid and sides,so as
2.The drug cannot drip or pour or be scraped out of the container. to be visible from any lateral direction.
Examples of trace chemotherapy waste are:
Contaminated gowns,gloves,masks,cleaning clothes,and barriers.Empty:IV tubing,
IV bags/bottles,syringes,drug vial
*Bulk Chemo is disposed as RCRA hazardous waste.
