The monitoring wells are being installed by Kaprealian
Engineering, jInc. '(KEI) , agent for Mobil Oil Corporation to
comply with the requirements of the California Regional Water
„_Quality Control Board (CRWQCB--Central Valley Region) for fuel
leaks from unl erground storage tanks.
Two 285 gallon fuel storage tanks were' removed from the reference
site on April 13, 1987. The soil sample from beneath "Tank All
(shown on the attached sketch) had concentrations of diesel fuel
of 220 parts; per million. The proposed three monitoring wells
will be drilled around Tank A for the following reasons:
To comply with the CRWQCB requirements
1
To determine if the shallow groundwater has been impacted
E
To determine the hydraulic gradient of the area
Drilling will be performed using Hollow-stem flight auger
drilling equipment. Soil samples will be taken during drilling
with a California-modified Split Spoon sampler. Soil samples
will be collected every five (5) feet, and will continue until
the first groundwater is encountered. The stratigraphy of the
borings will be logged by KEI's geologist.
After completion, the wells will be developed. Water samples
I f
1
