ICES
6. 1 Laboratory Analytical Results
Results of the preliminary sampling activities indicated that
organochlorine pesticides, lead, and mercury were below their
respective residential environmental screening levels (ESLs) The
only detectable organochlorine pesticide was DDT . DDT
concentrations ranging from less than 0 . 00010 mg/kg (not detected)
to 0 . 00020 mg/kg were substantially below the residential ESL of
1 . 9 mg/kg.
Arsenic concentrations ranging from 1 . 9 mg/kg to 3 . 0 mg/kg were
above the residential ESL of 0 . 067 mg/kg and within typical arsenic
background levels of up to 11 mg/kg. Contaminant concentrations
that are within background levels are considered acceptable by
regulatory agencies where their background levels exceed the
corresponding ESL. Lead and mercury were below their respective
residential ESLs of 82 mg/kg and 13 mg/kg.
7 .0 DISCUSSION
Based on the findings of this preliminary site investigation, it
appears that the soil within the Site had not been impacted by
agricultural activities that were formerly conducted at the
Site . Organochlorine pesticides, lead, and mercury were below
their respective residential ESLs; and arsenic concentrations were
within background levels .
8 .0 EXCLUSIONS
ICES assumes no responsibility or liability for the reliance hereon
or use hereof of information contained in this report by anyone
other than the party to whom it is addressed.
The evaluations and recommendations presented in this report are
based on the sampling results available at this time and could be
revised if new information necessitating further review of the Site
becomes available.
- 3 -
