General Guidelines for After Care <br /> 1. Keep Area Clean: <br /> o Do not wash with soap for 4 days. <br /> o Avoid rubbing the skin vigorously for at least 10 days. <br /> 2. Redness or Swelling: <br /> o Some redness or swelling may occur for 2-3 days. <br /> 0 1 in 25 people may experience light bruising, which will disappear quickly. <br /> o If swelling occurs, apply an ice pack for 10-minute sessions. <br /> o Light bruising may continue for several days. <br /> 3. Avoid Trauma: <br /> o Do not rub or traumatize the procedure area while healing, as this may remove pigment along with <br /> crusting tissue. <br /> 4. Avoid Certain Activities: <br /> o For 10 days, avoid contact with animals, gardening, sun, sauna,jacuzzi, chlorine pools, ocean, and <br /> steam rooms. <br /> o For at least 30 days, avoid swimming in pools or hot tubs. If necessary, keep the area dry and apply <br /> a light coat of petroleum jelly/ointment before entering. <br /> 5. Itching and Flaking: <br /> o Itching may occur after approximately 3 days, indicating the flaking process has started. <br /> o Apply ice to alleviate itching and use healing ointment orAquaphor thereafter. <br /> o Do not pick at the flakes; allow them to flake naturally to avoid insufficient pigment areas. <br /> 6. Avoid Certain Products: <br /> o Do not use products containing AHA's (e.g., glycolic, lactic acids) on the procedure area, as they will <br /> fade the pigment. <br /> o Always check product labeling. <br /> 7. Makeup and Washing: <br /> o Do not apply makeup to the tattooed area for at least 5 days. <br /> o Do not wash or use makeup remover on the procedure area for 48 hours following the procedure. <br /> o Avoid touching the area with fingers to prevent infection. <br /> o Use a clean cotton swab to apply healing ointment orAquaphor 3 times daily for 7-10 days. <br /> 8. Multi-step Process: <br /> o Paramedical and camouflage procedures are multi-step; final results cannot be determined until <br /> touch-up is completed. <br /> o The procedure area may remain lighter or darker throughout the healing process—this is normal. <br /> o Schedule a follow-up appointment to assess the area, whether or not a touch-up is needed. <br /> 9. Touch-up Appointment: <br /> o One free touch-up visit is included and must be completed 8-12 weeks after the initial procedure. <br /> o Missing this appointment will result in an additional charge. <br /> 10. Long-term Care: <br /> • Once healed, apply SPF 30 sunscreen to the procedure area to preserve color. <br /> Signs and Symptoms of Infection <br /> • Severe redness, swelling, tenderness at the procedure site. <br /> • Red streaks from the procedure site towards the heart. <br /> • Elevated body temperature. <br /> • Purulent drainage from the procedure site (green/yellow and foul-smelling). <br /> If any signs or symptoms of infection develop, seek medical attention and contact Skin & Shades Studio. <br /> What to Avoid <br /> • Avoid the following for 10 days: Swimming, Sun, Exercise, Makeup,Tanning, Skin Treatments. <br /> What to Remember <br /> • Apply healing ointment orAquaphor 3 times a day for 10 days. <br /> • The treated area may remain lighter or darker throughout the healing process—this is normal. <br /> • Do not miss your 8-12 week touch-up appointment. <br />
