18 August 2023 AdvancedGeo
Project No. 17-4073 An Employee-Owned Company
Page 5of7
The sample canister valves will be closed after reaching 0 to -5 inches' mercury (Hg) and
the final pressure and time will be recorded. The sampling ports on the sampling canisters
will be capped with brass endcaps and the canisters will be placed in a dry container
(room temperature). Soil-vapor samples will be labeled with sample ID, project name,
date, time, and samplers' initials. The samples will be logged on a chain-of-custody form
and placed into dry containers. Subsequently, the soil-vapor samples will be delivered to
a California ELAP-certified analytical laboratory and analyzed for the following
constituents:
• VOCs in accordance with EPA Method TO-15.
• Helium in accordance with ASTM D 1946-90.
Laboratory reports for all analyses, testing methods, laboratory QA/QC reports, and
sample chain-of-custody documentation will be presented in a report with the findings and
recommendations. EDF files of the laboratory analytical results will be submitted to the
State of California GeoTracker database.
2.4. SOIL VAPOR WELL SAMPLING
Existing soil vapor wells SV1 through SV4 will be sampled following the procedures
outlined in Section 2.3.
2.5. BORING ABANDONMENT
All soil borings will be permanently sealed to prevent vertical migration of potential
contaminants. Soil borings shall be abandoned by backfilling with cement grout from the
total depth to surface grade. The top three to six inches of the boring abandonments will
be completed flush to surface grade with concrete or native material. The EHD will be
notified for grout inspection at least 48 hours prior to conducting grouting procedures.
2.6. INDOOR AIR SAMPLING
To evaluate the potential for vapor intrusion (VI), AGI proposes to collect one crawlspace
air sample and two ambient outdoor air samples from the residence located at 1426 North
Van Buren Street. Crawlspace and ambient air sample locations are depicted in Figure 2
and Figure 3.
2.6.1. Pre-Sampling Inspection
Prior to IA sampling, the residence at 1426 North Van Buren Street will be inspected for
potential volatile chemical sources and commercial and household products will be
