Bryce stated coated bentonite for sealing between significantly different lithological layers will be used at about 800'
bsg or deeper, but uncoated chips might still be appropriate. Please specify at what depth coated bentonite
versus uncoated chips is to be used in writing, and provide the product's manufacturer recommendation (or
relevant published document)to demonstrate uncoated chips is still appropriate at that depth.
Boring diameter will be measured to high precision using special caliper in order to calculate the amount of
bentonite needed for the sanitary seal volume between wells.
Please discuss when DWR and GEI consider a lithological layer to be significantly different enough to warrant
sanitary seal to prevention communication between layers (i.e.thickness of the clay or low permeable lens).
EHD is required to ensure consistency between your proposal to ensure
Please provide manufacturer's recommendation or product cutsheet on the expansion potential of bentonite chips
to be used (preferably including temporal rate of such expansion).
