Breaking concrete with a pneumatic <br />jack hammer <br />- Dust <br />- Projectiles <br />- Pressurized cylinders, lines, <br />or equipment <br />- Vibration <br />1. Use water to suppress dust and wear a respirator with the <br />P-100 or HEPA cartridge <br />2. Maintain a safe distance of 15 feet away from breaking <br />activities. Jack hammer operator shall wear a face shield in <br />addition to already established level D PPE. <br />3. Compressor and airlines for the jack hammer must have <br />airlines equipped with whip checks. Whip checks must be <br />securely fastened to prevent hoses from detaching under <br />pressure. Chicago fittings must have cotter pins in place prior to <br />pressurizing equipment. <br />4. Take periodic breaks (20 minutes intervals) to prevent <br />vibration related injuries. Stop work if arm fatigue prevents the <br />ability to maintain control of the jack hammer <br />M <br />4. Break concrete using an electric jack <br />hammer <br />- Dust <br />- Projectiles <br />- Vibration <br />- Electrical <br />1.
