Make sure to take plenty of breaks, drink water, monitor <br />workers for signs of heat related illness. Stop work and bring <br />worker to cool down area if signs of heat stress occur. <br />2. Lift with your legs not your back, keep feet shoulder width <br />apart, get help or use equipment to lift loads heavier than 50 <br />lbs. <br />3. Use water spray to suppress dust. <br />4. Pay attention to your surroundings and stay out of the line-of- <br />fire. <br />5. Inspect all equipment. Do not use broken or compromised <br />equipment, ensure hydraulic jaws for securing sheet piles has <br />been inspected and in satisfactory working condition. <br />6. Wear hearing protection if sound levels are over 85 db or you <br />have to shout to speak to someone that is within two feet of you. <br />7. Be aware of all open holes and delineate areas with snow <br />fence and protect from falling in with a physical barrier. <br />8. Conduct daily trench and excavation inspections to identify <br />unstable soil. Monitor areas regularly throughout the shift. <br />9. Watch where you walk, do not leave tools materials or <br />equipment in places that could be a hazard to others. Practice <br />good housekeeping and keep trash and refuse cleaned up. Wear <br />boots with adequate tread and a raised heel. <br />10. Monitor excavations with a PID to determine if VOC <br />readings. Consult the Project HASP for site action levels. <br />L <br />3.
