21

2. The USA Notification is to be conducted by ICS 48 hours before the job start. Dig Alert
Ticket # is TBA.

The ICS SSO is responsible on-site and must ensure that each of the following is addressed:

➢ Locate and mark all underground utilities through inspection and identification by the
appropriate utility representative and client representative.
➢ Assume all lines are “live” until an appropriate utility representative verifies shut off. Do
not assume that the abandonment of a facility site has resulted in the shut-off of the
utility supply.
➢ Inspect buildings adjacent to the planned activity area to identify cues that indicate the
potential for underground and above-ground utility service (e.g., natural gas valves,
underground tunnels, water valves or metering pits, compressed air, or gas lines).
➢ If a utility representative does not mark utilities within the site boundaries, identify the
utility feed location and observe the above visual cues. Intrusive work must be
conducted slowly and carefully, especially during the first 3-4 feet (the depth at which
most utilities will be located)

Typical subsurface location marks are as follows:

RED – electrical,
YELLOW – gas/oil/steam,
BLUE – water,
GREEN – sanitary/storm drains/culverts,
ORANGE – communications, and
WHITE – proposed excavation or boring.

4.2.3 CORING EQUIPMENT

Intentionally Left Blank

4.2.4 DRILLING EQUIPMENT

Intentionally Left Blank

4.2.5 HEAVY EQUIPMENT
