36

Participation in Stretch and Flex exercise is encouraged daily before the start of each shift. The
purpose is to warm up and stretch body muscles and joints in preparation for all laborious work.
Following ergonomic standards is proven to help identify and abate musculoskeletal disorders.
Basic administrative and Engineering Controls shall be utilized to reduce the r isk of injuries. For
example, as an engineering control, a forklift can be used to move heavy objects as a substitute
for workers doing it manually.

4.2.35 DRIVING ON SITE

Driving company vehicles and equipment on site must be in strict adherence to motor vehicle
laws and specific requirements for each job site. The onsite traffic management Plan applies to
all vehicles assigned to support site operations, including but not limited to ICS company-owned
vehicles, employees' personal use vehicles, and subcontractors. Drivers shall obey all posted
speed limits and no parking signs. Idling vehicles and equipment for longer than 5 minutes is
not permitted.
Onsite traffic management is required to minimize risk and prevent driving losses, including
injuries to drivers, passengers, and pedestrians and damage to motor vehicles and property. By
planning routes and adequately communicating the plan to drivers, you will be better prepared
to avoid all potential hazards that lead to incidents. Weather and traffic conditions may change
frequently, requiring the traffic plan to be maintained and updated throughout the project
separately from the Site Health and Safety Plan.

4.2.36 STRUCK-BY / AGAINST

Proactive measures shall be taken to mitigate the risk of impact hazards such as flying debris or
falling objects. Impact injuries from falling objects can encompass everything from tools and
materials being knocked off unprotected edges to a suspended load from a crane coming loose.
All workers should avoid areas where work is being performed overhead. Such areas should be
cordoned off to protect workers from being struck by falling debris or tools. The ICS
Superintendent shall monitor workers to remain safe from heavy equipment. Injuries caused by
swinging objects usually occur when materials are being mechanically lifted, and something
causes the load to sway, or when a worker is inside the swing radius of a piece of heavy
equipment, such as an excavator. Workers should stay well outside the swing radius through a
personnel exclusion zone and verify that the heavy equipment operator can always see them.
