<br /> <br /> <br />STANDARD SPILL RESPONSE PROCEDURES <br />In the event of a low threat spill/drip, the following procedures should be followed: <br />5. Act immediately or as soon as feasible. <br />6. Inform management of spill if deemed necessary. <br />7. Use appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE) including at a minimum nitrile or <br />latex gloves, as well as, reflective clothing, eye protection, and/or hard hat as deemed <br />necessary by facility management, <br />8. If conditions are safe, if possible, stop the flow/spread of material by shutting a valve, <br />turning off a pump, up righting a container, or temporarily plugging a rupture. <br />9. Isolate and contain the spilled material by using any number of available spill response <br />materials and equipment, such as the absorbent spill booms, absorbent pads, barriers or <br />even earthen berms with a shovel or other available equipment (beware of fire danger <br />if material can be flammable). <br />10. Use available cleanup equipment and/or the spill contractor to clean up the spilled <br />material and contaminated soil/surfaces. <br />11. Store and dispose of the hazardous waste/material appropriately. <br />12. Document all spill response and cleanup efforts, including notification calls. <br /> <br />EMERGENCY SPILL RESPONSE PROCEDURES <br />In the event of a significant spill, the following procedures should be followed: <br />• Act immediately. <br />• Inform management of spill. <br />• Use appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE) including at a minimum nitrile or <br />latex gloves, as well as, reflective clothing, eye protection, breathing protection, and/or <br />hard hat as deemed necessary by facility management, <br />• If there is a fire or injury, immediately call 911. <br />• Isolate and contain the spilled material by using any number of available spill response <br />materials and equipment, such as the absorbent spill booms, absorbent pads, barriers or <br />even earthen berms with a shovel or other available equipment (beware of fire danger). <br />If it is unsafe to stop the flow, call 911. <br />• Isolate and contain the spilled material by using the absorbent spill booms, spill kits, or <br />creating an earthen berm with a shovel or other available equipment (beware of fire <br />danger). <br />• Estimate the amount of spilled material. <br />• Make all the above notifications. <br />• Use available cleanup equipment and/or the spill contractor to clean up the spilled <br />material and contaminated soil/surfaces. <br />• Document all spill response and cleanup efforts, including notification calls.
