Currently there are 350,000 birds being housed on site that contribute to the composting <br />operation. <br />4. 2 piles of wood shaving observed on site. Wood shaving brought is from horse bedding <br />from a different ranch/business. Wood shaving comes mixed with horse manure. First pile <br />(photo 7) temperatures measured at 116 F, 116 F, 112 F. Second pile of wood shavings (photo <br />12) was measured at 100 F and 102 F. <br />5. Records of incoming weights were being maintained as logs. Records of outgoing weights <br />were being kept as receipt copies. <br />6. Fly population was low throughout majority of the facility. Chicken manure had just arrived <br />to the site and where the chicken manure was being held (before being mixed with wood <br />shavings), the fly population was moderate. <br />7. Odor near the compost was strong. Once reaching the public roadway, odor was not <br />detectable. <br />8. The following temperatures were measured on site. Finished compost material was <br />removed in the morning from the 200 ft - 210 ft range of all windrows. Finished compost pile <br />had a temperature of 110 F.
