Called back obtained UP spill information <br /> for 5 gallons of diesel on pavement. REL number is 2018-08-24-321-JMR, <br /> 888-877-7267. Was transferred to UP dispatch by general hospital, spoke to <br /> Andrea, was vetted in. A refrigerated container number is WERZ27962. She <br /> reported that the leak was ongoing initially, then another updated report came that <br /> the leak was stopped. No waterways were impacted, the spill occurred on the <br /> tracks inside the intermodal yard. Andrea transferred me to Paul Holt, Paul <br /> reported that NRC will be dispatched to go out there, no responsible party yet, but <br /> he will provide it by Monday. No ETA yet he will find out and let me know. 8:52 pm, <br /> received a text from 916-540-0496, Paul reported ETA for NRC 1-1.5 hours. <br /> Received two pictures from Paul showing the spill. Asked how long they anticipate <br /> the clean up will take. 8:57 pm, received a response back, Paul reported that no <br /> containers have to be unloaded, they will wipe down the car, sweep up the <br /> absorbent and drum the waste. 9:03 pm, received info for the NRC, Joe Mcguffin <br /> 510-227-0879 will be in charge of the clean up. 9:12 pm, called Joe, discussed the <br /> clean up and the ETA. <br /> 08/24/2018 11:18 pm-12 am: field response PE 2546 MANZO <br /> 42 min SC 978 <br /> 08/25/2018 12 am -2:18 am: field response continuation PE 2546 MANZO <br /> 138 min SC 978 <br /> 11: 15 pm: Sent a text message to Joe Mcguffin asking if midnight is appropriate <br /> ETA for me to arrive to observe the clean up. Received a confirmation text from <br /> Joe that it was. Responded that I will arrive around midnight. 11:58 pm arrived <br /> onsite, checked in with the guard station. Was escorted to the spill location on the <br /> tracks. Met with NRC clean up crew. Absorbent was applied to paved areas of the <br /> spill, waste absorbent was drummed. Some darker staining was still visible and <br /> the container which was sprayed with diesel was not wiped down yet. Additional <br /> absorbent was applied to the ground and the container was cleaned. The <br /> refrigerated unit was moved to the crane area, it was not addressed on arrival. <br /> Stayed onsite to observe the remaining clean up. Documented the complaint. <br /> Prepared Prop 65. No responsible party information was available at this time, as <br /> such the notice to abate will be provided to Paul Holt on Monday when this <br /> information becomes available. Deferred complaint number generation as well to <br /> when this information is available.
