Acute toidcity: •"Bioassays designed to assess waste toxicity under the Hazardous Waste Criteria Regulations should preferably be conducted with fathead minnows ...Alternate species are the golden shiner... and the rainbow trout." •"Section 66696 specifies that the waste generator shall demonstrate that the waste does not have an LC50 less than 500 mg/L in order to qualify for a nonhazardous designation on the basis of aquatic toxicity." •"When screening bioassays are performed,initial screening bioassays must be conducted at two concentrations bracketing m the 500 mg/L level." •"Serial dilution bioassays to determine the LC50 and associated confidence limits are conducted on those samples which cause mortality of 40 percent or greater at 750 mg/L in the screening bioassay." A "PASS" result indicates an LC50 value of greater than or equal to 500 mg/L. The sample qualifies for a nonhazardous designation A "FAIL" result indicates an LC50 value of less than 500 mg/L. The sample does not qualify for a nonhazardous designation Test results: (only one to be selected) PASS LC50 > 750 mg/L ( >60% alive(12 or more of 20 organisms)in the 750 mg/L concentration.)
