Workplan for 1-5 Stockton Channel Viaduct and 1550 W Fremont St
The project is to advance nine soil borings to a depth of 15 feet to facilitate the collection of soil samples
for laboratory analysis using a GeoProbe direct-push rig.
The purpose of the drilling/soil sampling is to determine the presence or absence of hazardous
concentrations of Title 22 (CAM 17) metals, total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), diesel
(TPHd), motor oil (TPHmo), and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in soil. Caltrans requested this site
investigation to provide data regarding the potential presence of metals, petroleum hydrocarbons, and
OCPs in soil within the project limits. The investigative results will be used by Caltrans to inform the
construction contractor if metals, petroleum hydrocarbons, and/or OCPs are present in soil within the
project limits for construction worker health and safety, and soil management and disposal purposes.
Five soil samples will be collected from each soil boring and analyzed for CAM 17 metals, TPHg, TPHcI,
TPHmo, and OCR
The borings will be grouted to the surface and dyed with black dye to match the surrounding asphalt
surface.
A report of the findings will be prepared and submitted to Caltrans and the County presenting the findings
of the site investigation.
