Rental Policy OR-7003 <br /> Revised .January 21, 1493 <br /> OILED TEXTILES <br /> POLICY: <br /> Customers whose soiled textiles contain hazardous rnatcrials or free liquid will be identified and proper safety <br /> precautions will be taken to handle those soiled textiles. In no case wiI I the safety or health of any partner be <br /> jeopardized. <br /> RESPONSIBLE OFFICE: General Manager <br /> PROCEDURE- <br /> 1. DEFINITIONS <br /> A. Sailed Textiles -This term re€'crs to reusab]e textiles, such as shop towels, that have oils,solvents, <br /> chemicals or other substances on them. <br /> B. Free Liquid -A liquid that consists of solvents or ether substances, such as motor oil, gasolIric, ink, <br /> etc. The official method to determine if a textile contains a "free liquid" is to place a predetermined <br /> amount of soiled textilcs in a standard paint filter, If any portion of the material passes through and <br /> drops from the filter within a rive-minute test period, the lexiile is deemed to contain frceIiquid. <br /> 11. ENV IiR[lNlV ENTAL REGUI<.ATION <br /> Application of environmental regulations pertaining to reusable textiles currently vary from slate to state. <br /> At a minimurn, environmental regulations prohibit the transpoination and laundering of textiles bearing <br /> free liquid if that liquid consists of solvents or other hazardous substances. <br /> ill. HANDLING SOILED TEXTILES CONTAINING FREE LIQUID <br /> A. If soiled textiles are left for pickup by our Service Sales Rep, the customer must be told that these <br /> textiles will not be accepted or transported }hack to our operation unless the customer does one of the <br /> following: <br /> I. [dies a process to remove the free liquid by draining, extracting, or drying. <br /> 2. Stores the soiled textiles in a col lection system, such as a container with a false bottern that <br /> will allow free liquid to drain from the textiles. The OSHA approved container afl-ercd in the <br /> Cintas catalog is not appropriate for this use. <br /> B. The Service Sales Ruprescntative will bag the drained, soiled textiles separately, and clearly mark <br /> the bag with the mute, day, and customer number, <br /> IV. HANDLING SOILED TEXTILES CONTAINING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS <br /> A. If the customer informs us their soiled lexii1es contain hazardous materials. <br /> 1. Cintas partners who will cormc in Contact with these textiles tihould he properly informed and <br /> trained and they should wear or use appropriate safety equipment, Defer to Rental Policy#1 - <br /> 7002 ")hazard Communication Policy" <br />
