Work Plan for Destruction of <br /> Monitoring and Remediation Wells <br /> Larry's Auto—308 N.Grant St,Stockton CA <br /> Page 2 <br /> Standards Bulletins 74-81 and 74-90 published by the California Department of Water Resources. Copies <br /> of available well construction logs are included in Appendix B. <br /> 5.0 SITE PREPARATION <br /> The well locations will be marked with white paint and Underground Service Alert(USA)will be notified <br /> so that utilities can be located and marked at least 48 hours prior to drilling. Condor will prepare all permit <br /> applications for submittal to San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) for the <br /> destruction of the wells. Condor will receive all permit applications prior to initiating any fieldwork. <br /> 6.0 FIELDWORK PREPARATION <br /> Prior to commencement of fieldwork, a tailgate safety meeting will be held,and a site-specific Health and <br /> Safety Plan (HASP, Appendix C) will be reviewed and signed by all field personnel. Well destruction <br /> activities will be performed under the supervision of a Condor geologist in accordance with the provisions <br /> of the EHD permits. <br /> 7.0 WELL DESTRUCTION METHODS <br /> Well destructions will be completed primarily with the aid of explosives in accordance with standard <br /> practice for the destruction of water wells with explosives.Six wells with logistical issues will be destroyed <br /> through pressure grouting in accordance to Section 13.17 of the San Joaquin County Well Standards' <br /> (County ordinance) and the California Well Standards Bulletins 74-81 and 74-90 published by the <br /> California Department of Water Resources'. <br /> Well destructions will be completed by V&W Drilling (C57-720904), under the direct supervision of <br /> Condor. Explosives will be handled by Tylor McMillan's Well Service, LLC. Copies of the well blasting <br /> supporting documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPS) for well destructions with the <br /> aid of explosives,well blasting safety plan, and certifications of the well blaster, are included in Appendix <br /> D. <br /> 7.1 GROUTING WITH THE AID OF EXPLOSIVES <br /> Seventeen(17) monitoring and remediation wells will be destroyed by emplacing neat cement grout into <br /> the well with the aid of explosives. A 25-grain per foot detonation cord will be placed within each well <br /> column from the bottom of the respective well to the bottom of the sanitary seal.Neat cement grout will be <br /> placed in one continuous operation, if possible, and once the grout has been allowed to reach the surface, <br /> the charges will be set off,allowing the blast to perforate the well casing from the sanitary seal to the total <br /> depth.The volume of neat cement grout will be recorded for each well. <br /> The well boxes will be removed and each well will be over drilled to approximately 5.0 feet bgs and the <br /> PVC casing will be destroyed.Additional grout slurry will be placed to cap the boring to within 0.5 to 1.0 <br /> foot bgs and the existing surface conditions will be restored.A summary of the monitoring and remediation <br /> wells that are subject to destruction with the aid of explosives and their construction details are included in <br /> Table 1, below. <br /> ' San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Well Standards,Section 13.17. <br /> 'California Department of Water Resources(D)AIR),Bulletin 74-81: California Well Standards—State of California <br /> Water Well Standards,Sacramento,California. <br /> Is <br /> to CONDOR <br />
