EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION/WASTE MANAGEMENT
Prior to use, all non-disposable sampling tools used for sample collection will be
thoroughly rinsed with clean water after being washed with a solution of Alconox. All tools
will be cleaned prior to advancement at each boring location. Soil and rinseate generated
during drilling activities will be containerized in properly labeled Department of
Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums and stored on-site in an area generally
lacking public access. Disposal alternatives will be evaluated at a later date based on
laboratory results of soil and water.
2.3. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be
prepared presenting the findings of the investigation. The report will include a description
of the work performed and results of the sampling and analysis. Conclusions, applicable
recommendations, and maps will be included in the report. The report will be reviewed
and signed by a California Professional Geologist.
3.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGI representative under the supervision of a
California Professional Geologist. Procedures for the advancement of soil borings, soil
sampling and boring abandonment are outlined below.
3.1. SOIL PROBE BORING ADVANCEMENT
AGI proposes to advance four (4) soil probe borings to 15 feet bsg for soil sample
collection. The soil borings will be advanced using a Geoprobe direct-push probing unit
or equivalent equipped with 1.25-inch probing rods. The probing unit advances soil probe
borings using a hydraulic hammer to drive sampling tools to specified depths. The total
depth of the borings may vary according to geologic/hydrogeologic conditions
encountered during drilling. The proposed soil boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Soil samples will be collected continuously between surface grade and the total depths
of the borings; hand auger cuttings from near surface to five feet bsg will be logged for
lithology only. Soil samples will be collected at 5 feet, 10 feet and at 15 feet bsg using a
1.45-inch Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with a five-foot acetate liner. Upon
sample retrieval, an approximately six-inch portion of the liner will be cut at each end, and
the two liner sections will be covered with Teflon sheets, capped, and sealed with tape.
Each sample will be labeled with boring designation, depth, time, date, and sampler's
