Workplan for Exploration Borings
Brown Sand Inc.Mossdale Plant
Lathrop,California
Page 2
Task 2 —Field Work (Exploratory Soil Borings)
To explore the subsurface conditions beneath the Site, Condor proposes to advance fifteen(15)exploration
borings to a depth of up to 60 feet bgs (Boring Identified as EB-13 through EB-27). Soil samples will be
collected at selected depth intervals of the borings for geologic evaluation. We anticipate the soil borings
will be advanced utilizing mud rotary drilling methods. The soils encountered will be examined and visually
classified in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System by a geologist. A geologic log will be
produced for each boring.
Upon completion, the borings will be backfilled in general accordance with San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD) Guidelines. According to email correspondence with Jeffrey
Wong (Lead Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist) of SCJEHD, due to the sandy nature of
the subsurface beneath the lean clay, as describe in the subsurface condition section of the workplan, a
variance was granted to allow for the borings to be backfilled with clean sand to 30 feet bgs, then finished
with neat cement grout to 5 feet bgs. Surface conditions will be restored by backfilling the remaining 5 feet
with surrounding soil. Correspondence with SJCEHD staff is included in Attachment C.
A Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan, including a hospital map, is included in Attachment D.
We appreciate your time to review this workplan and trust it will meet your needs. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me at 209.513.7634.
Respectfully submitted,
CONDOR EARTH
Luke Castle, PG No. 9945
Associate Geologist
Attachments:
Attachment A— Proposed Exploratory Boring Location Map
Attachment B —November 2019 Boring Logs and Boring Locations
Attachment C— SJCEHD Correspondence
Attachment D— Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan
XdProjea02000_pp@I36 Brown Sand@136M EsploralionXRepons\N'orkplan and Nrna1s%'.,kp1an\WP 20231013 Ex Bonngs.docs
A
is CONDO
