SITE-SPECIFIC HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN FOR PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT <br /> Other Site Hazards <br /> July 7, 2023 <br /> 5.0 OTHER SITE HAZARDS <br /> 5.1 PHYSICAL HAZARDS <br /> Physical hazards may include uneven terrain, sharp debris, electrical fencing, holes, noise, etc. <br /> The most likely physical hazards at the site are uneven terrain (curbs and gutters) and sharp debris. To <br /> protect yourself, look before you step and wear proper PPE for the task being performed. <br /> 5.2 WEATHER AND NATURAL DISASTERS <br /> Hazards associated with weather and natural disasters may include, but are not limited to, effects of <br /> extreme heat (heat exhaustion, heat stroke), effects of extreme cold (hypothermia, frostbite), high winds, <br /> heavy rain, lightning, heavy snow, ice, earthquakes, landslides, flooding, etc. <br /> The most likely hazards at the site are effects of extreme heat (heat exhaustion, heat stroke) and <br /> earthquakes. When temperatures are expected to be above 80°F in California, all employees must follow <br /> the Heat Illness Prevention Plan (Stantec SWP 113C) provided in Appendix C. For additional information <br /> on heat stress, refer to Stantec SWP 113- Heat Stress (available on Stannet). <br /> To protect yourself from heat, perform the heaviest work at the coolest part of the day; drink plenty of cool <br /> water; wear light, loose-fitting, breathable clothing; and take frequent, short breaks in the shade. Certain <br /> medications, having a previous heat-related illness, and wearing PPE such as a respirator or protective <br /> suit can put you at increased risk. <br /> Heat Exhaustion "eat StrokeāA Medical Emergency <br /> What are the symptoms?
