The samples will be
collected by cutting the interval of the soil core to be sampled and sealing each end
with Teflon septa and plastic caps. Additional soil samples may be collected based
on PID readings, unusual odors and/or visible contamination.
• Collect one groundwater sample from the 60 ft boring(s), assuming that sufficient
groundwater is encountered.
• Sample containers will be provided by McCampbell Analytical, Inc (CDPH ELAP3
#1644) and will include 40-milliliter VOAs4 containing hydrochloric acid as a
preservative, 1-liter amber glass jars containing no preservative and 250-milliliter
plastic bottles containing nitric acid as a preservative. Groundwater samples
analyzed for metals will be field filtered. Samples will be stored in an ice-filled
cooler and transported to the lab following chain-of-custody procedures.
• Submit selected soil and groundwater samples to McCampbell Analytical, Inc.
to be analyzed. The analyses requested may include:
o Multi-range TPHS by 80156m.
O TPH-g6 and MBTEX7 by 80156/802113.
O VOW by 82606.
O RCRA 89 metals by 200.8/6020A.
o CAM 17 metals10 by 200.8/6020A
Sample selection and analyses requested will be based on field observations and
the project work plan. Samples not submitted will be placed on hold for future
analyses, if needed. Consultant expects to analyze all water samples collected but
only selected soil samples will be analyzed.
• Backfill borings with cement slurry or concrete and patch the drilled areas to match
the existing grade, as required.
• Store investigation-derived waste in labeled Department of Transportation (DOT)
approved 55-gallon drum(s) or 5-gallon buckets with lids to be properly disposed of
based on analytical results. For the purposes of this Proposal, it is assumed that
the waste generated by this investigation can be disposed of as non-hazardous
waste.
C.3 Reporting
SCHUTZE & Associates, Inc. will prepare a report summarizing the results of the
Additional Soil Borings investigation, to include: descriptions of the work performed; a site
0 California Department of Public Health Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program
4 Volatile organics analysis containers
5 Total petroleum hydrocarbons
0 Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
7 Methyl tert-butyl ether,benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene,xylene
0 Volatile organic compounds
9 Resource Conservation and Recovery Act 8 metals(Ag,As,Be,Cd,Cr,Hg,Pb,Se)
t0 California Assessment Manual 17 metals(Ag,As,Be,Be,Cd,Co,Cr,Cu, Hg,Mo,Ni,Pb,Sb,Se,Ti,V and Zn)
SCS700.4—2327 East Mariposa Road
