AA Damrnand adder locations will have to be close enough to the original proposed location to be cleared during the USA Alen
The hand auger and sampling equipment will be pre-cleaned priorto arriving on Site. Downhole equipment and subsequent geophysical survey performed prior to field activities.
and materials will be decontaminated in a detergent tap water wash and double-dosed with tap water or 4.5 Investigation-Derived Waste
With a pressure washer between samples and/or borings to reduce the potential for cross-contamination.
Investigation-derived waste(IDWJ(eg.,soil cuttings,decontamination water)will be containerized in sealed
A"SampUng,Depths and labeled containers approved bythe Department of Transportation(DOT). The IDW will be characterized
Soil will be continuously sampled to the terminal depth from the hand auger borings during drilling. and profiled based on laboratory analysis results and transported under wane manifest documentation to
permitted receiving facilities for recycling,treatment,and/or disposal.
4A5 Soil Somp4ng Methodology
At each probe location, the soil cuttings from the hand auger will be visually inspected for discoloration,
monitored for odors, and classified in general accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System(USCS).
In additioq sail from select intervals will be placed in a sealable plastic bag and field-screened for Volatile
organics with a calibrated photoic nizabon detector(PID).
If soil staining,odors,and/or elevated PID readings are noted during field activities, soil samples will be
collected and submitted for VOC analysis in accordance with United States Environmental Protection
Agency(EPA)Method 8260E by 5035. The soil samples will be collected utilizing Tens core kits and placed
into clean, 40-ML VOA vials, two preserved with sodium bisulfate and one preserved with methanol
provided by the analytical laboratory. The VOA vials will be equipped with septum sealed screw caps to
prevent the loss ofvolatile constituents. The VOAs will be placed on ice in a portable chest and transported
under chain-of custody procedures to Jones Environmental Inc(JEI),.a state-certified laboratory. Partner
does not anticipate collection of soil samples for chemical analysis, because the prior investigation results
indicate that V005 in the subsurface are primarily in the Vapor phase.
"6 Sal Gas Probe Co,vd.c dPr
Semi-permanent soil gas probes will beconstructed after the hand auger borings have been advanced to
the terminal depth of 5-feet bgs. New Va-inch diameter Nylaflow tubing with an inert vapor implant at the
terminal end Will be inserted intothe boring to the desired sampling depth and sand poured into the boring
annulus to form an approximately t-foot long sand pack around the vapor implant. Approximately 1 foot
of dry, granular bentonite will be placed atop the sand pack and the boring annulus backfilled with neat
cement grout to the ground surface to form a seal. Each probe will be fitted with a valve on the sampling
\ end of the tubing, labeled for identification and enclosed at the surface in a 6-inch diameter,flush-mounted,
traffic-rated vault constructed withima concrete pad. Please see Figure 5 for a soil gas probe construction
diagram.
If clay is encountered at the 5-foot depth the boring will be backfilled and abandoned.A step out boring
will then be manually excavated with the hand auger approximately 3 to 5 feet away from the previous
location. If clay is encountered in two step out borings at 5-feet bgs,the boring location will then be moved
approximately 10 feet may, if possible, and another step out boring advanced.
