• Personal Protective Equipment <br /> Management Program 2.15 <br /> 3.5.3 Level C Protection <br /> Level C protection is utilized when both skin and respiratory hazards are well defined and the criteria for <br /> the use of negative pressure respirators have been fulfilled (i.e., known contaminants and contaminant <br /> concentrations, acceptable oxygen levels, approved filter/cartridge available, known cartridge service life, <br /> etc.). Level C protection may require carrying an emergency escape respirator during certain initial entry <br /> and site reconnaissance situations, or when applicable thereafter. <br /> Personal protective equipment for Level C typically includes: <br /> • full facepiece air-purifying respirator; <br /> • emergency escape respirator(optional); <br /> • chemical protective clothing: <br /> 0 overalls and long-sleeved jacket; or <br /> o coveralls; <br /> • gloves, inner(surgical type); <br /> • gloves, outer, chemical protective; and <br /> • boots, chemical protective, steel toe and shank. <br /> 3.5.4 Level D Protection <br /> Level D is the basic work uniform. Personal protective equipment for Level D includes: <br /> • coveralls; <br /> • safety boots/shoes; <br /> • eye protection; <br /> • hand protection; <br /> • reflective traffic safety vest (mandatory for traffic areas or railyard); <br /> • hard hat (with face shield is optional); and <br /> • emergency escape respirator is optional. <br /> 3.5.5 Level E Protection <br /> Level E protection is used when radioactivity above 10 mr/hr is detected at the site. Personal protective <br /> equipment for Level E includes: <br /> • coveralls; <br /> • air purifying respirator; <br /> • time limits on exposure; <br /> • appropriate dermal protection for the type of radiation present; and <br /> • radiation dosage monitoring. <br /> 1/2019 Corporate Health and Safety Management Program I ROUX 16 <br />
