AECOM <br /> 4.6.14 Preferred Means of Reporting <br /> Employees shall immediately notify the Supervisor of incidents and emergencies, and report in <br /> accordance with S3AM-004-PR1 Incident Reporting, Notification&Investigation: <br /> • Unless facility representatives specifically indicate that they prefer AECOM personnel to notify <br /> them first of an emergency, the SSO will directly contact the appropriate emergency <br /> responders listed on the Location Specific Emergency Response Plan; <br /> • Additional communications within AECOM concerning an emergency event may be required <br /> as per S3AM-010-PR1 Emergency Response Planning and SR1-003-W12 Disruptive Event <br /> Response Instruction; <br /> • "Dangerous occurrences"shall be reported immediately to the police, employer, vehicle <br /> owner/leaser and the dangerous goods owner. Such events would include spills, bulk <br /> container damage, fire, explosion, and transportation accidents involving dangerous goods; <br /> • Confirm and seek direction on external reporting requirements. Each jurisdiction has <br /> regulations governing the minimum quantities for reporting based on the type of product spilled <br /> or release refer to S3AM-117-ATT1 Spill Notification Numbers for North America; <br /> Individuals who have knowledge of a spill, release, or unlawful discharge, shall notify authorities <br /> immediately. Reporting does not imply guilt or assign blame.The following details are to be <br /> reported: <br /> • Location and time of spill; <br /> • Description of circumstances leading to spill; <br /> • Type and quantity of material or substance spilled; <br /> • Details of any action taken at the site of the spill; <br /> • Description of location of spill and immediately surrounding the area; <br /> • Any additional information in respect of the spill that the Minister, Environmental Protection <br /> Officer or person designated by regulations requires. <br /> 4.6.15 First Responder <br /> First responders shall have sufficient training or have had sufficient experience to objectively <br /> demonstrate competency in the following areas: <br /> • An understanding of what hazardous substances are, and the risks associated with them in an <br /> incident; <br /> • An understanding of the potential outcomes associated with an emergency; <br /> • The ability to recognize the presence of hazardous substances and physical hazards in an <br /> emergency; <br /> • An understanding of the role of the first responder; <br /> • The ability to realize the need for additional resources and to make appropriate notifications to <br /> the communication center. <br /> 4.6.16 First Responder HAZWOPER Operations Level <br /> First responders at the operations level are individuals who respond to releases or potential <br /> releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response to the site for the purpose of <br /> protecting nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of the release: <br /> • They are trained to respond in a defensive fashion without actually trying to stop the release; <br /> Their function is to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading, and <br /> prevent exposures; <br /> Hazardous Waste Operations(S3AM-117-PR1) <br /> Revision 3 July31,2019 <br /> PRINTED COPIES ARE UNCONTROLLED.
